Manchester born, Melbourne raised and Brighton based singer songwriter JJ Symon reinterprets a mixed bag of influences into a raw, direct and thrilling concoction of alternative folk, blues and rock'n'roll.
With a respectful nod to artists as diverse as Bob Dylan, Beck, Tom Waits and The White Stripes, JJ has also cited the beat writers, surrealist painters, and musicians of the 50's and 60’s pop renaissance among his influences. Along with a heavy dose of self-deprecating humor and a fugitive mentality, he tends to stand outside of the expected.
Producing and releasing four independent albums, New River 2008, Black White & Grey 2009, Mayday 2010 and Open4Debate 2011, JJ Symon has garnered international radio play, critical applause and a passionate fan base for his dense lyrics and memorable song arrangements coupled with raw and visceral production values.
After a break from recording, during which time he has been relentlessly delivering his spitfire-garage-folk-blues to London and Brighton audiences, his fifth album, Injured Ninja, is due to be released this summer.
